Jeff O'Brien's side chair is fashioned from Santos mahogany, steam-bent ash and Danish cord.

The 13th annual Art in the Pearl Fine Arts & Crafts Festival will feature the work of more than a hundred artists from across the U.S. and Canada, including some talented furniture artists.

Scott Stewart, who works with bubinga, maple and bamboo, and Jeff O'Brien, whose pieces include reclaimed Douglas fir and walnut, will be among the artists showing off their wares at Oregon's premiere art festival.

The jury-selected work of 130 artists, chosen from among 800 applicants, will be available for sale and includes painting, woodwork, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics and handmade jewelry.

The annual Labor Day Weekend event, Sept. 5-7 in Portland's North Park Blocks between Burnside and Glisan will also feature music, dance, food carts and hands-on activities for all ages.

Jeff O'Brien's table is made from reclaimed Douglas fir and walnut.

Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday.

An art education pavilion and demonstration area will also be available for children and adults to experiment with a variety of craft projects, and also listen to artists who will be on hand to demonstrate and explain their creative processes.
