Fellow artists find Jennifer Phillips’ Stolen Artwork
Two weeks ago, over $7,000 worth of original artwork was stolen from Jennifer Phillips car while it was parked at a Seattle Goodwill store. Jennifer had stopped at the store after making a delivery of her hand painted jewelry, to a local gallery. After returning to her vehicle, she noticed her window had been slashed – her laptop, iPhone, and personal items also were taken, but the jewelry was irreplaceable.
Jennifer Phillips is a Seattle based artist that will be showing her work at this weekend at Art in the Pearl. Her jewelry is unique in that she paints miniature oil paintings on the backs of Scrabble Tiles, using a magnifying glass. Hoping that this would help the public recognize them, Jennifer reached out to the local tv news stations for help in getting the community involved. Within no time, her story was featured on Komo 4 and Q13 Fox News.
Her persistence and proactivity paid off! This week she received a call from Komo 4 that a group of local artists – musicians, producers, and singers, who share a space at MIH Records in Seattle, had found her work at a bus stop right in front of their studio!
This group of good Samaritans really saved the day! It’s wonderful to be able to report a happy ending to what could have been such a devastating loss.
